Remodeling Your Bathroom? 2 Tips To Help You Get Started

Posted on

If you are planning to remodel your bathroom there are many things you can do to ensure it is perfect for you and your family. Making these changes could also raise the resale value of your home if you ever plan to sell in the future. Below are two tips to help you get started on this large project.

Frameless Shower Doors

You have the choice to choose between frame or frameless shower doors. There are many benefits of choosing frameless, however.  Not only do they give great visual appeal, these doors are much easier to clean because there is no metal track that makes contact with the floor. These metal tracks can also be hard to clean and moisture can build up inside of them, which leads to mold. Because frameless shower doors have no frame, most manufacturer's use tempered glass because it is thicker and heavier, as well as heavy duty hardware.

Consider removing the bathtub if you install this type of shower. This will save you a lot of space in your bathroom.

Talk with a contractor, such as from Hanover Glass, to learn much more about frameless shower doors so you can decide if you would like this for your bathroom.

Countertops

Replacing the countertop can make a big difference in the way your bathroom looks. If you are not on a budget, granite would work well. You should seal the countertop and then it will be resistant to stains, such as from hairspray or other hair products build up. Granite is also resistant to heat so you would not have to worry about burning it from a curling iron or straightener.

Laminate is another choice you have. It is less expensive when compared to granite but it can look just as nice. This is because it is available in a wide range of colors. Laminate also holds up well to water and is strain proof. Laminate will burn, however, so you have to be careful if you choose this type.

Tile is another option you have. You can choose from a variety of colors and shapes so you can lay the tiles in different patterns. You do have to consider tiles are harder to clean because of the grout.

Consider putting entertainment in the bathroom when you are finished. For example, there are shower heads that are also speakers so you could listen to music while in the bathroom. There are also TVs that will work great in the shower or other areas of the bathroom. This way you would not have to worry about missing a big sports game.
